President's Message
May 2010
Happy Mothers Day to al our ladies this month. Our dance wil be on May 8th in the Bingo hall. Max has a great menu planned. We would appreciate if you buy your tickets early even though we are extending the cut-off date to May 7th. It makes life easier for Max to know ahead of time on how mauch food to prepare and for Mary to make up the seating. If you wait till the last minute we may put you on the roof! (only kidding).
Many of you have commented on our website that we still have old information on it. We have two sites. IGNORE the old site. It was set up years ago and we cannot get rid of it because we do not have the domain name. We have asked the person that set it up years ago and they do not remember the name. On the front of the newsletter is the CORRECT one, www.azaic.org.
John D'Avanzo and his crew of volunteers did a fantastic job running the charity golf tournament back in April. If you were not able to make it, were hoping for another on in the fall. John will keep us posted. We raised quite a bit of money for Juvenile diabetes even though we had only 27 players. It was well organized and I am sure the next one will be even bigger.
This club is made up of volunteers. I am sitting here thinking as I write this how all of you make things run so smoothly. We have members that run the 50/50, people that help with the maintenance of the Club, members that help serve, set-up, and bus for our dances and fundraisers. I want to thank all of you for your hard work and you know who you are. If any member old or new wants to help volunteer give me a call and leave a message, I will get back to you. This is one way of meeting people and we only expect you do what you are capable of doing, it should be fun, not a hassle.
We're tweaking our OPEN-MIKE night from 7:00 pm to 10:00 pm. If we have a lot of musicians on one Saturday we will go longer; everyone will get to perform that signs up. Food will be offered from the kitchen 6:00 pm to 9:00 pm. If we have a function in the dining room the musicians will use the non-smoking bingo room. Many of the participants write their own music and play a variety of instruments and enjoy playing with someone new.
I closing I wold like to thank Joe Di Tommaso for all his hard work raising funds for our various charities out of bingo. Joe is there three days a week for months' on end selling items to the bingo players. He has been doing this over ten years. The Club has been able to keep the Scholarship fund "well funded", and many other charities that we sponsor throughout the year. I cannot say enough how dedicated he has been. Joe will be away from the Club for awhile taking on a job in California. We'll miss you Joe and so will the Club. Anybody out there that would like to fill Joe's shoes for the next several months five me a call.
Enjoy your Club;
President
